Top Pageant Contender Ms Dannyele Teneel Leslie Speaks To The Fashion Police In London Town

Sexy......Talented.....Fiercelicious Ms Dannyele Teneel Leslie
Please, tell us who you are and what you do for those not familiar with you?
I am, Dannyele Teneel Leslie a 24 year old aspiring diplomat. Who holds an Associate Degree in Spanish and Law as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Law.  As a lover of pageantry, I have earned the titles of Miss Barbados World 2006 1st Runner up, and have been awarded the opportunities of representing my island paradise Barbados as Miss Holetown 2009 in the Miss Jaycees Caribbean Queen 2009 placing 1strunner up, Miss Caribbean World 2010 placing 1st runner up, Miss Caribbean Culture 2011 placing 3rd Runner up and the most recent Miss Carnival 2013.

2)      Which 2 words best describe you as a person?
I am ambitious in that I believe opportunity knocks but once whether it comes with its value stamped on it or whether it comes in disguise.
I am intelligent.  Intelligent enough to know that no one person knows or has the answers to all life’s queries, it is therefore important to listen and observe.

3)      Describe your Fashion sense?
I believe there is a time and place for everything. When it comes to fashion once the attire is tasteful, comfortable, flattering on my petite frame and compliments my vibrant personality I’ll wear it and wear it with confidence!

4)      Do you think you are a true representation of today's woman if yes/no why?
The definition of today’s woman may generate many definitions. I prefer to define myself as a strong woman who is assertive in her stance so as to reach her goals and ultimately secure success.

5)      Tell us all about your pageant experience to this very day?
My pageant career has been nothing short of phenomenal with a capital ‘P’. What started off as a test of will has turned into a profound love. It has been an avenue of exploration, where I was not only able to develop my performing talent and interpersonal skills but I was able to share them with the many individuals I came into contact with. Most importantly it has allowed me to represent my country and given me the much desired practice for my chosen field of work. Honestly, nothing feels better than to announce your country to hundreds of people. It is an honour.

6)      What are 4 tips you live by when entering a pageant?
When I’m in pageant mode I treat it like a sport; it is a sport. Be a good Sportswoman; only one can win the race or game, likewise in pageantry only one can win the crown or title, therefore I respect and appreciate that. Be disciplined, whether physical or mental. Practice technique; in the same way a cricketer postures himself for his 6 runs, so too must the beauty queen, whether it a perfect T stance or winning smile, ensuring excellent execution is key. Finally, BE YOURSELF!! Staying true to self is pivotal!

7)      Describe what true beauty is?
True beauty comes with a purpose. One that strives to build a legacy that others may follow well beyond the measured years of physical beauty.

8)      What do you love doing when you’re not busy?
I love to watch a good movie or series, relax on the beach or sometimes I just get lost in some of my favorite YouTube channels.

9)      If you had the power to change the pageant world what would you change and why?
I would like to upgrade the level of our shows, especially here in the Caribbean. I would like to see us strive to reach and surpass that of our international counterparts. From the setting of the stages, to the routines selected, to the designs displayed. Also I believe it is high time for transparency as far as judging is concerned. In this technological age in which we live, there is no reason why scores shouldn’t be electronically posted for audience/public viewing during or after a show. Not only would it minimize the “after pageant guessing game” but it would allow delegates to know where they went wrong and so better themselves.

10)   What would you say are your best assets?
My personality, my smile and my skin!

11)   What are 4 things some men do that make you mad?
Discredit pageantry as something easy or useless.
Lie, (this goes for men or women).
Refuse to admit that a woman’s’ role in the society is no longer limited to being at home and dependent.
Men who think they are less of a man if they pamper themselves once and a while. It’s just a pedicure!

12)   Where do you see yourself in 7 years’ time?
My studies would have been completed, married with a child and the home of my dreams and most definitely helping out on the local pageant scene.

13)   If you’re to judge a pageant what makes a winner in your eyes?
Unless your talent is acting, a winner is someone who does not put on a face on stage, someone who is sincere (a trait that is easily spotted) and comfortable showcasing the true them, the best version of themselves. It is all well and good to have someone to wear a crown, anybody can do that. The true test is how flawlessly that title meshes with the individual’s actual and overall character.

14)   If you were to transform into any fruit which fruit would it be and why?
A mango! (Laughing) not only does it smell good and taste great but it is used in so many creative a useful ways!

15)   If you were to walk the red carpet which designer would you wear and why?
Zuhair Murad, I am simply in love with his use of embroidered fabrics.

16)   What do you think of the Fashion Police News Blog?
I think it is absolutely fabulous! Not only is it headed by the one and only Mr. Fierce! But he has created a portal for individuals like myself, to share their experiences, views and lives with an ever growing worldwide audience! That’s not something you get to do everyday!

17)   What do you think of men who teach women to walk?
The same thing I think about women who teach women how to walk. They are great!! The reality is some of the best hairstylists are MEN, most of the best designers are MEN, and no doubt most of the best catwalk trainers are MEN.

18)   If the Fashion Police was to have dinner at your home what dish would you prepare them?
My national dish, Cou Cou and Flying Fish, which is steamed cornmeal with okra and steamed flying fish! It’s the best! With a tall, cool glass of Mauby. It would be a shame if I didn’t let you have it.

19)   Who are your 4 best friends you would ride and die for?
I don’t believe in ‘riding and dying’. I however hold my friends dear to heart. When it comes to my mother, I would give my last breath.

20)   Which music would have you running to the dance floor to shake your booty?
As a Caribbean girl I love Soca!! Machel Montano really gets me going!!

21)   What advice do you have for others looking to walk into your footsteps?
That’s just it, never walk in anyone’s footsteps. Borrow from life’s experiences, take risks, make mistakes and learn from them. Charter your own path, to unlocking your true potential. Succeed.

22)   What is one thing you have learned from all these pageants?
Often times, great, positive, life changing opportunities present themselves to us, sometimes masked as hard work which unfortunately may be a deterrent to some. I have learnt to embrace these opportunities, despite how insurmountable they may seem, reassured in the fact that my true potential will not only be revealed but tested and I would have emerged a greater individual for having accepted the challenge.

23)   If the fashion Police was to be a fly on your bedroom wall what would they be shocked to see?
How much of a neat freak I really am, I mean my wardrobe is colour coded.

24)   Any last words for our many blog readers worldwide?
There’s only one YOU! BE GREAT AT BEING THAT!

Sexy Ms Peggy Richinsin Speaks To The Fashion Police In London Town

Sexy...Hot...Fab.....Fiercelicious Ms Kandi who is also known for her great make up artiste work,to book her for upcoming events and projects please email sweetkandi4u@hotmail.com
1) Please tell us who you are and what you do for those not familiar with you?
My name is Peggy Richinsin otherwise known as Kandi. I am a single mother of 3 kids. I am a Bookkeeper by profession but I am also a makeup artist and a model during my spare time.

2) What 3 words best describe you as a person?
The 3 words that best describe me are Motivated, Independent and   Outgoing.

3) Describe your fashion sense?
I would describe my fashion sense as Classy, Sexy and Trendy. Lately, I have been very interested in custom made or custom designed pieces. I started experimenting with odd color lipsticks such as greens and blues something out of the norm.

4) Do you think your a true representation of a today's woman if yes/no why?
Yes, I do. I believe I am a strong independent woman that works very hard in order to support my kids and make life comfortable.  I work very hard in hopes to be very successful in the near future. I also keep myself up to date with the latest fashion trends and ensure I am always looking my best when I step out.

5) Tell us all about how you got started as a make up artist to this very day?
I started off as a model at first. I was in a competition where someone was hired to makeup the models, I was very disappointed with the way the makeup was applied and looked. That sparked a flame for me to learn how to apply makeup myself which by the way I also style my own hair. :D . Anyway, after many years passed and I slowed down with modeling, I saw Ms .Rogelia Euson was having a basic makeup class but due to certain circumstances I was always unable to attend. In the beginning of 2012, I contacted Ms. Eusonand pleaded with her to train me, by this time she had stopped giving classes, but seeing how determined I was she offered me, our own one on one classes, besides the classes with her I also watch Youtube videos, I read Blogs, and watch picture tutorials. My first gig was for a major fashion show at Holland House with Ms. Euson where we did make up for the Pure Magazine models. From that I went on to work with Vayo from Vay’la Photography during the summer photo-shoot package. And I guess after that things just took off, but I remain humble and I am always willing to help out the up coming models.

6) What are 4 tips women should follow when applying make up?
1. No black lip liner this is a MAJOR NO NO..unless you’re using black lipstick 2. Eye brows frame your face please have them shaped properly stop drawing a thin line for eyebrows. 3. Apply eye shadow application then your foundation. 4. When applying powder over foundation it is better to press it on with a powder puff as not to move the foundation/concealer you just applied.
7) What do you love most about being a make up artist?
I really love the expression on my clients face or the comments they make when they see the completed look and transformation. I believe makeup is meant to enhance your beauty. Oh, I have to add, I also love creating and forming eyebrows on clients that have little to none.

8)If you was to walk the red carpet which designer would you wear and why?
In all honesty, because I like different things with my own little touch to it. I would have to contact Cadella Marten, owner and designer of CM designs in Holland and work with her to create an outfit that no one else has, something specially designed for me.

9) What do you think of the Fashion Police News Blog?
I am very excited and happy that the Fashion Police news Blog as been created. This is a great way to showcase different talented people from all parts of the fashion industry. Hopefully in the future it can become a talk show on TV giving fashion tips to everyone and offering make overs. Keep up the good work!!!

10) What do you think of men who teaches women to walk?
Well, if we have to look at the whole fashion world…some of the best clothing designers, makeup artist and hair dressers are men and they do a great job. I feel a man can see things in a different perspective to a woman, therefore a man teaching a woman to walk is a good thing especially if he has all the knowledge as Mr.Fierce.

11)If you was given 1 ticket to fly any where in the world where would you go and why?
Ummm.. I would go to Paris because of the fashion industry, the food and the romance.

12) Which other make up artiste do you look up to if any and why?
I look up Rogelia Euson, over the time she has encouraged me and taught me a lot about the makeup artist world, the good, the bad and the ugly. She also helps me with my weak points and ensures that we work on that to help me deliver my best work. She believes in me and my work , sometimes more than I believe in my own work and I am very grateful to her for all she has done for me and also for always calling on me to be her protégé when she has big gigs.
13) When not working what do you love doing most?
When I am not working I love relaxing in my bed watching my favorite TV shows and joking around with my kids and their friends.

14)If you could be the make up artiste for 4 people of your choice on the island of St Maarten who would they be and why?
Wow this is a good question. I really don’t have 4 people of choice I would want to make up at this time. But, I would love to be able to randomly select some women right out the clubs or off the street shopping and offer them a complimentary makeup. My reason for this is because many times I go out to the clubs or look at pictures and see a beautiful woman dressed nice but makeup is off or applied incorrect and I would like to explain and show the proper way to enhance her natural beauty.
15)What makes a bad make up artiste?
A bad makeup artist for me is someone unprofessional, unhygienic, does not listen to his/her client, the work is sloppy and does not care about what the client looks like but cares more about the pay. A bad makeup artist does not love makeup or the work. If you do not love what you do and don’t care about how your client will look after.. ..do not claim to be a makeup artist and do not makeup others.

17)Where do you see yourself in 7 years time?
I see myself in 7 years having my own business offering trendy custom made jewelry, clothing, setup with a little studio where I can do my clients makeup and offer them inexpensive makeup and perfume, a place with a small lounge to sip wine and eat fruits while shopping and getting beautified,  I would also like to teach basic makeup classes to teenagers and young women of St. Maarten.

18)What advice do you have for others looking to walk into your footsteps?
Research the craft, decide what kind of makeup artist you would like to be, once you got the basic skills practice, practice and practice some more. Any chance you get to take a course and improve your skills and broaden your knowledge, take it. You do not need to start off with the most expensive products  and tools there are good quality, reasonably priced products on the market. Again you have to do a lot of research.

19)If the Fashion Police was to have dinner at your home what dish would you prepare them?
I would prepare Garlic shrimp with pasta, roasted potatoes, green salad, plantain and a cold glass of white zinfandel wine or a glass of coke soda ( my favorite).
20)If the Fashion Police was to be a fly on your bedroom wall what would they be shocked to see?
Lololololol…They would be shocked to see that I am not always very well put together, at home I am makeup less and my hair is either slicked back or crazy if I did not wrap my hair before I went to bed and I will be dressed in old house clothes.

21)What are 4 things women do that makes you mad?
1. They do not support each other  2. They bad talk each other 3. They sometimes wear clothing that are not suitable for their body size . 4. We do not love ourselves as much as we should.

I am not wearing aftershave lol, I'm home and working, I ain't trying to waste it on smelling myself all day ;p

7)If you was to walk the red carpet which designer would you wear and why?
I would wear my own design which is yet to drop but its self entitled and it represents triumph, growth and new spirit, its slogan is 'always beautiful, broken wings can still fly', meaning that no matter what you have gone through, how far you have fallen and how hard, you can still rise, you will grow, and you will fly.

4 things that women do that I do not like, I don't like it when they take solo long to get ready but that is just what women do, um, I don't like it when they don't listen but then you gotta get them out of trouble, trouble that would have been avoided had they listened in the first place, but then again that's also what women do lol, they take like 4 days to buy that dress or those shoes, then when they are stuck on what to wear out and you suggest that they wear that dress or those shoes, they say they don't really like it… I don't like it when women pretend not to know how to do certain sexual things when they really know how to do it and do it well but they want you to believe that they are that innocent… I can always tell ;)

There would be a menu coz I can cook like that ;) I'd suggest my special, that would be my home made fries, barbecued lamb chops with my special tangy tomato sauce ;)

27)If you was to stay home on valentines night with your lover what would you cook and wear?
If I was to stay home on Valentines with my lover then I would cook Coriander rice and lemon tinted salmon and a bottle of white wine surrounded with endless candles around, strawberries and cream for dessert… I would wear a shirt and tie, but with such an effort, it would surely soon come off.

28)Any last words for our many blog readers?
Well, I would like to say thank you for taking the time to know me a little, It really is a blessing when you have so much interest in you. I have come from a place to far in the dark that I never expected to see so much light, but I do… and this is why I am sharing my story, maybe this is why I was given these gifts… So to anyone who has found themselves within dark times, to anyone who finds themselves in unfortunate circumstances, the dark may seem to go on forever, but it is only for a moment, if you hold on, stay strong and believe, then you will triumph, you will grow and one day soon you will fly higher than you knew the skies to lie… trust me. :)

My advice to young women who are looking to enter a pageant... I would say , take a chance and experience pageant life for what you will learn and the knowledge you will gain will always stay with you. Many doors will be open to you while gaining the opportunities, new friends, a better mature you, and the ability to travel to share your talent with the world. You will never know unless you try.
