Newly crowned Ms Guyana Talented Teen 2014 Ms Reesa
1)Please tell us who you are for those not familiar with you?
My name is Reesa SooklalI, 14 years of age and I’m privileged to be a student of Queen’s College, the highest secondary education institution in Guyana.  I’m aspiring to become an Obstetrician Gynecologist and I love animals.

2)Describe your Fashion sense?
I love the idea of wearing denim shorts and a wide neck T-shirt or sweatshirt with a pair of sunglasses to complete the look.

3)What 3 words best describe you as a person?
I believe that compassionate, vibrant and down-to-earth are three words that definitely defines who I am.

4)What made you decide to enter Ms Guyana Teen pageant 2014?
I basically entered the Miss Guyana Talented Teen pageant because at age 12, it was my dream to become a model and also I would like to become a positive role model to other teenagers, especially girls.

5)What did you think won the hearts of the judges that you was crowned queen?
I strongly believe that my talent piece on the night of the pageant won the hearts of the judges that made me queen since it displayed some of my personalities and I basically showed them that I am multi-talented by combining a guitar piece along with my belly dance.

6)Tell us how did you prepare for the pageant?
Preparation for this pageant required a lot of hard work and dedication that I definitely gave into. Every afternoon I, along with my fellow contestants practiced at the National Cultural Centre from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. It entailed a lot more than just walking. For example, we were exposed to table etiquette, wardrobe etiquette, ballroom dancing, etc., which contributed to making us well rounded individuals.

7)Tell us more about this amazing gown you were wearing?
Mr. Randy Madray, a famous Guyanese designer, designed the fabulous gown I wore for the pageant. We discussed a suitable design that would definitely portray my personality and allowed me to display the gown to my fullest ability. With the gown being fuchsia pink, one of my favorite colors, it was definitely an appropriate color for a teen pageant.

8)Are you scheduled for any upcoming pageants if so how are you preparing?
I will be participating in the Haynes Smith Caribbean Talented Teen 2014 pageant. At the moment, I’m basically improving on my talent piece as well as my interviewing skills for the upcoming pageant which is scheduled for December, 2014.

9)What are your 5 secret tips to winning a crown?
Five secret tips to winning a crown which I personally believe are:
- Always wear a smile since this will show some amount of your personality
- If you don’t have an answer to a question, always make an attempt and try to answer to your fullest ability.
- Always be kind to everyone since this might make persons see you as an outgoing individual
- Ensure you have full knowledge of you platform and choose one that you’re comfortable with
- Ensure that any task given you is done on time in a proper manner, to your fullest ability.

10)What do you enjoy doing when your free from school/work?
During my spare time, I enjoy playing the guitar, playing with my pets, skating, painting, dancing and playing outdoor sports- my favorite outdoor sport is cricket.

11)Where do you see yourself in 10 years time?
I see myself in the next ten years studying to become an Obstetrician/Gynaecologist and also as a positive role model to persons.

12)What music would have you running to the dance floor?
I enjoy different types of music but of them all, I would confess that soca music will definitely have me running to the dance floor since the beat they have is rather hyped and makes me want to dance and just be myself.

13)Tell us all about your talent you did for Ms Guyana Teen 2014
Being motivated by the dedicated and cultural environment that I came from, my passion lies within playing the guitar and dancing. I started playing the guitar about a year and a half ago being inspired by my sister, Monisha Sooklall. Belly dancing inspires me by reminding me of my cultural heritage. My wildest fantasy is to become a famous belly dancer like the late, Dolly Baksh. I believe that we are all influenced by a fusion of our culture and so I danced to an instrumental and then to African drums played by nine year old, Ricardo Primo Stanton.

14)What do you think of the Fashion Police News Blog?
I think that The Fashion Police News blog is rather necessary since it is worldwide and it updates everyone on the new trends in the modelling world.

15)What do you think of men who teaches women to walk?
As a female, I personally value men’s opinion so I would say that it’s great to have men teaching women to walk.

16)Who is your role model and why?
My role model is a very hardworking, loving and determined individual, my mom, a woman who respects time. By sharing a really close relationship with her, she helped me to develop the knack of fighting for what I believe in and for what is right and I think that it helped to make me the person I am today.

17)If you had the power to change the pageant world what would you change and why?
Well since I’m only 14 and this is my first pageant experience, I don’t exactly have an opinion on what I would like to change in the pageant world.

18)What would you say is your best assets and why?
I consider my height, hair and smile as my best assest since not everyone who are eager to model are as tall as I am and I like my hair since it is soft, straight and of a natural dark brown color. My unique smile is adored by many including myself and it displays my fun personality.

Mr/Ms Guyana Talented Teen 2014
19)If the Fashion Police was to have dinner at your home what dish would you prepare them?
Well I’m only 14, hence not much of a good cook, but if the Fashion Police were to have dinner at my home, my mom would entice them in a wonderful, finger- licking, local Guyanese cuisine, curried chicken and dhal puri / rice.

20)What advice do you have for other young women looking to enter the world of pageantry?
My advice to other women seeking to enter the world of pageantry is “be confident in yourself and never doubt your potential. Beauty is not only about having a pretty face; it’s about having a pretty heart, a pretty mind and a pretty soul.”

I've recently finished my first level of schooling and looking forward to soon furthering my studies. I always look to wow myself when dressing, mainly when attending events. I dislike wearing trendy outfits especially when the whole world is wearing the same things. I like being different to others.

4)What made you enter the Mr Summer 2014 Pageant?

To be honest, I've been ready to participate in Mr Summer since 2012 at the time organized by E. F. but it was cancelled for quite some time. So when I got that message on my Facebook asking me to participate in this competition I was more than happy and ready to say "Yes". I like competitions and been attending this show from it was created, I've had that drive to participate.

5)After meeting the contestants do you think you will win if yes/no why?

Miss Summer started back in 2007 and Mister Summer was added back in 2010. Thus far it's been one of the life-given shows for Summer on Saint-Martin. But ever since it stopped there weren't much exciting and interesting events to attend on the French side. However with this great comeback, I believe this is just a great start and of course a boost for Summer in this Paradise.

This blog allows the participants of any competition to get world wide exposure and that is beyond great.

10)What do you think of men who teaches women to walk?

To think of the idea of a man teaching a woman how to walk may seem crazy. But at the end or the day everyone has their lane, everyone has their passion and calling. So if that is what he decided and he's comfortable with it; then so be it.

17)Tell us all about yourself as a person:

Well, my zodiac sign is Cancer. I am a very generous person, down to earth and outgoing. If there's anyway I can help in something I would always try my utmost best.
But to come back to Mr. Summer, when I participate in any type of competition and I am well known for going all the way out for the sky isn't my limit. To add to that I will say: I was the chaperon of Ms. Jeanette Annicette who won Ms. Elegant Plus Size 2013 and the hashtag for my supporters is #TeamCoco #MisterSummer2014

18)What is 1 thing people say about you that is not true that you would love to address here?

People tend to say that I have a lot of pride. I do admit sometimes it doesn't hide. But I do not let my pride hold me back from anything.

I dislike seeing a mother taking good care of herself, but her children are being treated like rubbish.
