Aspiring Model Ms Shenise is Caught and question by Fashion Police

1) Please tell us who you are and what you do for those not familiar with you?

My name is Shenise Bennett and I’m aspiring Model whose dreams and aspirations are streamed towards High Street fashion and Editorial Modeling.

2)What 2 words best describe you as a person?

Hmmm, I think that I would have to go with VIBRANT and CARING because no matter what I do in life, I always like to help those who strive for greatness and in doing so I have a bubby and outgoing personality.

3)What are 3 things you think makes a good model?

There are many qualities which I feel make a good model, but seen as you’ve only asked me for 3, then I would have to go with:
DEDICATION – Modeling isn’t for everyone and therefore if you feel you have what it take you MUST be committed to it 100% as a lot of time, effort and energy is put into all aspects of this career.
CREATIVITY- You must be a person that is willing to ‘think outside the box’ and be versatile with your looks, personality and mentality.  You have to be able to bring something else other than a pretty face to the industry, because looking the ‘same’ as everyone else isn’t going to get you noticed.
PATIENCE- Now this is a skill that not many people are able to adapt to, but modeling can be a very demanding and strenuous job, therefore if you don’t have it in you to be understanding and accommodating all round then you may find it to be quite tedious at times.

4)Name one thing you just can’t leave your home without?

*Giggles* that’s an easy one my hair brush.  I don’t know what it is but I have this thing about my hair and the need for it to look good (most of the time).  For me, if my hair doesn’t look good then the rest of me feels out of place.  Some people may call it vanity but I call it taking pride in your appearance.

5) What are your best assets and why?

Wow, now this is a hard one.  From what I’ve been told my ‘Eyes’ stand out to a lot of people as they are quite big *giggles* I don’t know if I would say it’s a good thing, but I must admit that whenever I have photo shoots make-up artists and photographers like to do close up shots and pay close attention to this part of my body.  Another good asset for me would be my build *shy face* the only reason why I say this is because, in this industry the majority of models have strict eating diets and régimes, whereas I have a really fast metabolism which allows me to pretty much eat all the foods I like without having to worry about gaining lots of weight.   I do exercise regularly though, because I feel it’s important to maintain a healthy living regardless of my chosen career.

6)Are you in a relationship/single/married/divorced?

Are you sure you’re allowed to ask this question *giggles*?  I’m married to my career and happily single as far as the rest of my life is concerned.

7) What are a few things that attract you to a person?

Well if you mean in general then I would have to say a person that is outgoing, fun, bubbly, down to earth, caring and honest.  But if you mean in terms of a partner then I would have to say I like men who are all of the above plus loyal, hard-working, good sense of humor, ambitious, affectionate and family orientated.

8)What would you like most a man in boxers.........bikini briefs.........or a thong?

*Giggles* you really are the fashion POLICE aren’t you.  This question is so personal, but I’m an honest person so give me a man in BOXERS anytime!

9)What do you think of Fashion Police News Blog?

I think it’s one of the most informative and reliable resources for all models, make-up artists, photographers and scouts around.

10)What make up are you wearing now?

How do you know I’m wearing any *giggles*. I’m wearing MAC foundation, Rimmel Longer Lashes Mascara, Sleek Eye liner and Carmex lip therapy.

11)What music brings you to the dance floor to shake your booty?

I thought you’d never ask *smiles* I don’t have one particular type of music that gets me moving but I’m a true West Indian girl through and through so Soca/Calypso and Reggae always gets me moving.  But I’m a 80s baby so all types of music from the 80’s & 90’s is guaranteed to get my booty shaking!

12)If you had to stay home on valentines with your lover what would you cook and what would you wear?

*Massive burst of laughter* Are you guys planning on finding me my ‘perfect’ man *smiles*. Hmmm, again seen as I’m of West Indian descent I would have to go with Curry Chicken (Trinidadian style) with white Basmati Rice and a nice glass of Strawberry syrup with Champagne.   Dessert would be ME *blushing much* and so far as clothes go, what is it they say sometimes ‘Less is More’!

13)What do you love most and hate when dancing with a man?

Hmmm love most is a man that can take control and knows what he’s doing on the dance floor.  Hate most, the exact opposite, a man who asks for a dance but has no rhythm whatsoever *giggles* it’s so off putting and makes me feel like I have two left feet!

14)If you had 3 tickets to attend any event in the world which 3 events would you attend?

This is a tricky one. Ok so the 1st ticket I would want to be backstage passes to see Beyoncé and Jay Z, Beyoncé for her musical talents and positive influences she gives to her fans.  Jay Z, again for his music but mainly for his passion in the fashion industry. The 2nd ticket would be to attend a fashion show which would give me access to designers and models such as Russell Simmons, Kimora Lee Simmons, Tyra Banks, Cartier, Louis Vuitton, Vera Wang and Gucci. And last but by no means least my 3rd ticket would be to attend a celebrity seminar with all the top designers, fashion magazines, editors and models so that I could gain a better understanding and knowledge on what’s makes you successful and respected in such a high profile and demanding industry.

15)What do you think of men who teach women to walk the runway?

I’m not sexist and therefore whether you’re male or female I commend anyone who is willing to share their time and educate models on how to improve their walk on the runway.  I actually think that some men walk better than women and so for someone like myself who is trying to progress, I greatly appreciate and respect their time.

16)What's the worse chat up line a guy ever said to you?

I don’t even know where to begin, I’ve heard that many cheesy lines before that I tend to forget the ones which I know isn’t going to win me over.  But one in particular that I remember a guy saying to me is ‘If I could rewrite the alphabet I’d put U and I together’ *giggles* absolutely hilarious.  Really men, this isn’t something that a woman like me would ever take seriously *covers eyes*.

17)There are so many models out there what makes you different?

This for me would have to be the most important question of all.  I think that I would have to say that I’m a model who is not only wanting to be successful but for me it’s about giving back to others who aspire for the same things as me, but for whatever reasons have had setbacks.  Not only am I passionate and committed to my career, but my goals go beyond fame and fortune, I want to be able to show everyone that modeling is just as important as being a doctor/teacher/lawyer because at the end of the day it’s a career that once achieved can help to inspire and motive others.  I’m a person that sees beauty in everyone no matter your colour or creed and therefore I want to be able to bring a mixture of male, female, black, white, Asian, tall and short aspiring models into the industry.

18)If you had the chance to do a photo shoot with any 2 persons who would you choose and why?

Oh wow, another good question. But again, this is something I’ve dreamed about for a very long time. My two chosen people would be Tyra Banks because of her flawless beauty inside and out, not to mention her experience, knowledge and wisdom throughout the fashion industry.  And my second person would be *drum roll* Amber Rose, the reason why I would chose Amber is because I’ve learnt from her that looking different can be very rewarding.  She changed up her look entirely by going from long hair to short and then blonde,  and in my opinion it’s one of the best decisions she could have ever done as it’s given her, her own identity which is greatly respected by many.  For me she is a perfect example of why being unique is fashionably cool.

19)Who are your 5 closes friends you love so much?

Awww I thought you’d never ask *giggles*. My BEST friend Tejay Montague who is a female Vocal Artist from Barbados, she has been given the title BEST for a reason and that’s because any advice, criticism and lessons learnt have always taught me well and 9/10 been correct. Then I would have to say my friend Taree, she’s a friend that I would do anything for and love more than you know. My cousin and friend Nadine and Gemma, who has always been supportive and there for me throughout thick and thin. Louise who is another friend I met in Barbados only last year but has been like an absolute rock to me, love her bad! And finally but certainly no love lost here my friend Kalisha who I’ve known for the past 5 years (I think) and I don’t see regularly but when we do it’s always like we’ve never been apart. I know that’s six but I have that many people who I consider to be close friends that I can’t just choose my top 5!

20)What is one thing people say about you that is so not true that you would love to address?

Hmmm, well I would hope not a lot but I suppose if I’m honest I’ve been accused of having more time/caring for my friends more than family which is NOT true.  I’m a very friendly person that comes from a large family.  I’m the eldest Grandchild, Niece, Daughter and to my immediate family Cousin which basically means I’ve not had anyone my age group in my family that I’ve been able to have girly talks with etc.  I find it easier to speak with friends because most things I talk about requires me to set an example to the youngsters in my family.  Added to that, there are lots of strong women in my family, my mother being one, and I’m a person that is quite in touch with my feelings and emotions and so I often turn to friends who know how to guide me through certain situations.  I love my family more than words care to express, if it wasn’t for my family I wouldn’t be the person I am today and so I would just like to make it known that Family for me will ALWAYS be a priority in everything I do, but at the same time my close friends will ALWAYS be a part of me.

21)If you had to attend a red carpet event which designer would you wear and why?

Hmmm, difficult decision but I would have to go for an Evening Gown designed by Jovani.  I think it’s more than apparent that the gowns designed are classy, elegant and ALWAYS eye catching. Right up my street!
