Ms Guyana Alicia Nicola Bess wins the most prestigious pageant in the Caribbean Ms Pjd2 Caribbean Queen 2014 on the beautiful island of St Maarten |
1)Please tell us who you are for those not familiar with you?
Alicia Nichola Bess is a woman who never walks when she can run. I am a lover of life and everything it has to offer; as such I am currently an Administrative Manager and Executive Aide who simply enjoys singing, dancing and drama.
2)What 3 words best describe you as a person?
Adventurous, collective and humble
3)Describe your Fashion sense?
My fashion sense is one of Elegance mixed with a touch of sex appeal.
4)Tell us about your experience in the Ms Pjd2 Caribbean Queen Pageant 2014?
It was a memorable experience and one that I will cherish forever. The pageant committee did a great job organizing the pageant and the activities leading up to the big day while the competition between the girls competing on pageant night was stiff and of a high standard. So all in all I enjoyed it from beginning to end.
In pageantry there is no sure way of knowing you will win, you can only do your best and hope for the better. After meeting the girls I realized from the beginning it will be a tight competition and it will all come down to who can impress the judges and audience from begin to end. So I simply kicked my training and pageant experience into play and AMEN that was enough to gain me the crown.
6)What about you do you think won the hearts of the judges to crown you the winner?
I believe my confidence and personality. I am naturally a confident bubbling person who loves to smile, laugh and take unbelievable risks. So whenever I am on stage I always put that aspect of myself into my performance and I truly believe the judges saw and moreover felt the positive energy that I was giving off that night.
Persons usually don’t believe this but when I am not in pageant mode I am a very simple hard working young lady like any other person aiming to achieve great things in life. I am very family oriented and a person who is always available to offer advice or a shoulder to cry on when needed. In addition to working full time and pageant training, I am also a student studying Accounting and Business Management through ACCA and ABE while actively contributing to my charitable causes.
8)Now that you have won this pageant what is next for you?
In my pageant camp we never linger on a victory for too long. As it is now I am fully back into training mode in preparation for my upcoming pageants to close off my 2014 pageant year. The 1st one being the Miss Jaycees Queen Show in Antigua.
Whenever I get a chance to relax I enjoy curling up on my couch with a glass of red wine and a great novel to keep me entertained.
10)What would you say is your best assets?
My smile, my personality and my intellectual being. I am proud of the fact that I am a fast thinker on my feet and that I can adapt quickly to any situation by God’s grace.
11)Where do you see yourself in 7 years time?
In seven years, I see myself completing my academic studies, becoming the CEO of a reputable company and beginning a family of my own while simultaneously contributing actively to my charitable causes to ensure a bright future for the Young People of my country Guyana
In my opinion, the Fashion Police News Blog is a blog built on passion and love for what somoneone embodies and believes in. From running through the various articles and pictures on the blog one can see and learn so much and everything is well organized not only to build awareness to fashion trends but to empower both male and females to follow their dreams.
I believe they are a blessing in disguise sent to bring out the hidden tiger in every woman. I learnt to walk from Richard Younge and Derek Moore, two men with a passion for teaching girls in Guyana to walk like Goddesses.
14)If the Fashion Police was to have dinner at your home what dish would you prepare?
Initially I would’ve said Roti & Curry as that is my utmost favorite dish but since it is the Fashion Police himself, I would love for you to experience a true Guyanese cuisine of Rich Cook-up Rice with Fry Fish and Fried Ripe Plantain and Trust me one spoonful and you wouldn’t want to leave my dinner table must less my country Guyana.
My advice would be to follow my philosophy “With hard work and determination one can accomplish anything he/she sets his/her mind too”. Pageantry and Life itself is not an easy road, there will always be times when you will want to give up but just keep the faith and keep praying and you will see everything will fall into place.
16)Name one thing you just cannot leave home without?
My cell phone.
Each pageant experience was a unique and treasured one. Miss PJD2 Caribbean Queen 2014 was my 8th pageant. The others are listed below;
- Winner of Miss East Bank Supermodel 2010
- 1st runner up - Miss Republic Bank Caricom Pageant 2010
- 1st runner up - Bartica Regatta Pageant 2013; Special Prize: Miss Congeniality
- Winner of Miss Guyana Jamzone 2013; Special Prizes: People’s Choice, Best Body, Best Gown and Best Smile
- Participant of Miss Caribbean Culture Pageant 2013
- 1st Runner up – Miss Jamzone International Pageant 2013; Special prizes: Best Costume and Best Fantasy Swimsuit
- 1st Runner up – Miss Guyana Universe 2013
18)What music would have you running to the dance floor to shake your booty?
Good old energetic Soca. Nothing better to relieve some stress than shaking to some Jomo Primo, Allison Hinds, Mr. Killa or even Machel Montano.
19)Who are your 4 best friends you would ride and die for?
My mother, My brother Quincy and my best friend from since childhood to now Stephanie Bishop. A fourth person is yet to be identified since a best friend is not someone you would meet and claim over night.
That would have to be lack of confidence when on stage, sporting a plastic smile, poor preparation especially in talent and lack of camaraderie and showmanship. I believe pageantry is a way of empowering all women and we as pageant girls should always aim to be the role models that young girls can look up too and aim to be.
21)What perfume are you wearing as we speak?
Calvin Klein Euphoria for women, one of my all time favorite scents.
22)Winning the crown from 16 other contestants how was that feeling?
A feeling of great accomplishment for my Country, Pageant camp and myself. There is no better feeling in the world to know that all your hard work and preparation have paid off to gain you a Regional crown.
I would just like to leave the blog readers with a quote that always pushes me to be a better person every day of my life. I pray it has the same motivation on you.
Mahatma Gandhi – “Be the positive change you wish to see in the world”
All hail the Queen hugs and huge kisses from the United Kingdom we love you.
