1)Please tell us who you are for those not familiar with you?

I am Jelani Fleming, born on June 26th, 1995.
I've recently finished my first level of schooling and looking forward to soon furthering my studies. Back in 2012 I was elected Jr Minister of Saint-Martin where I represented the island on a touristic level, regionally. I was also elected Prom King 2012 for the Prom held on the French side of the island.

2)What 3 words best describe you as a person?

The three words that best describe me are: Creative, Ambitious & Optimistic

3)Describe your Fashion sense?

I always look to wow myself when dressing, mainly when attending events. I dislike wearing trendy outfits especially when the whole world is wearing the same things. I like being different to others.

4)What made you enter the Mr Summer 2014 Pageant?

To be honest, I've been ready to participate in Mr Summer since 2012 at the time organized by E. F. but it was cancelled for quite some time. So when I got that message on my Facebook asking me to participate in this competition I was more than happy and ready to say "Yes". I like competitions and been attending this show from it was created, I've had that drive to participate.

5)After meeting the contestants do you think you will win if yes/no why?

After meeting my competitors I strongly believe that the crown is mines. But as I've always said it can be anyone's game on the night of the show because everyone has their different tactics. However, I remain quite confident about my appearances and may the best candidate win.

6)What can we expect from you on this big night?

I have a great amount of things in store to reveal on the night of the show. I urge everyone reading this blog to come out in large numbers to witness this historical show. Just to enlighten you on your expectations: it's going to be Creative, Innovative and Exciting!

7)Tell us all about the Mr/Ms Summer pageant?

Miss Summer started back in 2007 and Mister Summer was added back in 2010. Thus far it's been one of the life-given shows for Summer on Saint-Martin. But ever since it stopped there weren't much exciting and interesting events to attend on the French side. However with this great comeback, I believe this is just a great start and of course a boost for Summer in this Paradise.
This year in my section, we are about 6 candidates and we'll be gracing the stage in 5 judged segments and an introduction. Our segments are: Club wear, Professional wear, Sports wear, Summer beach wear and Gentleman's wear.

8)What cologne are you wearing as we speak?

I am currently wearing a Ralph Lauren perfume.

9)What do you think of the Fashion Police News Blog?

The Fashion Police News Blog is a great initiative and I commend you on that. I usually keep up to date from time to time especially when people that I am familiar with are being arrested like My sister Ms. Shanyra Richardson and my cousin Ms. Luciana Raspail. This blog allows the participants of any competition to get world wide exposure and that is beyond great.

10)What do you think of men who teaches women to walk?

To think of the idea of a man teaching a woman how to walk may seem crazy. But at the end or the day everyone has their lane, everyone has their passion and calling. So if that is what he decided and he's comfortable with it; then so be it.

11)When not working what do you enjoy doing ?

When not working, I enjoy discovering more of Saint-Martin, Doing touristic activities and of course creating memories with friends and loved ones.

12)If the Fashion Police was to be a fly on your bedroom wall what would they be shocked to see?

They would definitely be shocked by the mess I often have on busy days..

13)What music would have you running to the dance floor to shake your booty?

I'm a sucker for soca, so music from artistes like Machel Montano would have me going.

14)Who are your 4 best friends you would ride and die for?

I have many good friends, but in order to not create any jealousy everyone is treated the same way. I go all out for any of my friends, any day.

15)If the Fashion Police was to have dinner at your home what dish would you prepare them?

I would cook up a great Caribbean delicacy for the F.P. or that can be the opportunity to taste my finger-licking lasaña that which I'll be doing a Lasaña lunch delivery on June 12th, in Saint-Martin.

16)If you could turn yourself into 1 fruit what fruit would it be and why?

If I had that chance, I'd probably turn myself into a pineapple. First of all because it's my favorite fruit but I admire the shape and texture as well. Not to forget the sweet & sometimes sour side of that fruit.

17)Tell us all about yourself as a person:

Well, my zodiac sign is Cancer. I am a very generous person, down to earth and outgoing. If there's anyway I can help in something I would always try my utmost best.
But to come back to Mr. Summer, when I participate in any type of competition and I am well known for going all the way out for the sky isn't my limit. To add to that I will say: I was the chaperon of Ms. Jeanette Annicette who won Ms. Elegant Plus Size 2013 and the hashtag for my supporters is #TeamCoco #MisterSummer2014

18)What is 1 thing people say about you that is not true that you would love to address here?

People tend to say that I have a lot of pride. I do admit sometimes it doesn't hide. But I do not let my pride hold me back from anything.

19)What is 3 things women do that makes you mad?

I dislike seeing a mother taking good care of herself, but her children are being treated like rubbish.
Young females who wear these trending jewelry with the words "Bad B@/&#" whereas they don't want to be categorized or called by that name.
And lastly women who try to fit in trending fashion but their body type isn't fit for the particular clothing.

20)Where do you see yourself in 8 years time?

In 8 years I see myself running my decorating and event planning company Exquisite Designs & Decorations Event Planners on a wider scale. In my own house and most likely my family and car(s).

21)Who is your role model and why?

My Father is my role model. He's my guide through most of the endeavors that I undergo and I admire him for the inner drive that he has into reaching higher heights in life.

22)What would you say is your best assets?

I would honestly say my best asset is my great reflex. I understand things quite fast and I am quick to adjust myself to different situations or circumstances.

23)What does winning Mr Summer means to you?

Winning Mr Summer 2014 only proves to myself that I can do whatever I wish to do, once I put my head to it.

24)Any last words for our many blog readers from around the world?

I would take this opportunity to thank each and everyone of you who took the time to read my 24 long answers. I encourage you to support my fellow candidates and I on July 19th in the Paradise village in Galisbay, Saint-Martin.

The most prestigious pageant in the Caribbean is won by Ms Guyana Ms Alicia Nicola Bess

Ms Guyana Alicia Nicola Bess wins the most prestigious pageant in the Caribbean Ms Pjd2 Caribbean Queen 2014 on the beautiful island of St Maarten
1)Please tell us who you are for those not familiar with you?
Alicia Nichola Bess is a woman who never walks when she can run. I am a lover of life and everything it has to offer; as such I am currently an Administrative Manager and Executive Aide who simply enjoys singing, dancing and drama.
2)What 3 words best describe you as a person?
Adventurous, collective and humble
3)Describe your Fashion sense?
My fashion sense is one of Elegance mixed with a touch of sex appeal.
4)Tell us about your experience in the Ms Pjd2 Caribbean Queen Pageant 2014?
It was a memorable experience and one that I will cherish forever. The pageant committee did a great job organizing the pageant and the activities leading up to the big day while the competition between the girls competing on pageant night was stiff and of a high standard. So all in all I enjoyed it from beginning to end.
5)After meeting all the girls did you had any idea you would have won?
In pageantry there is no sure way of knowing you will win, you can only do your best and hope for the better. After meeting the girls I realized from the beginning it will be a tight competition and it will all come down to who can impress the judges and audience from begin to end. So I simply kicked my training and pageant experience into play and AMEN that was enough to gain me the crown.
6)What about you do you think won the hearts of the judges to crown you the winner?
I believe my confidence and personality. I am naturally a confident bubbling person who loves to smile, laugh and take unbelievable risks. So whenever I am on stage I always put that aspect of myself into my performance and I truly believe the judges saw and moreover felt the positive energy that I was giving off that night.
7)Tell us more about yourself as a person?
Persons usually don’t believe this but when I am not in pageant mode I am a very simple hard working young lady like any other person aiming to achieve great things in life. I am very family oriented and a person who is always available to offer advice or a shoulder to cry on when needed. In addition to working full time and pageant training, I am also a student studying Accounting and Business Management through ACCA and ABE while actively contributing to my charitable causes.
8)Now that you have won this pageant what is next for you?
In my pageant camp we never linger on a victory for too long. As it is now I am fully back into training mode in preparation for my upcoming pageants to close off my 2014 pageant year. The 1st one being the Miss Jaycees Queen Show in Antigua.
9)When not working what do you enjoy doing?
Whenever I get a chance to relax I enjoy curling up on my couch with a glass of red wine and a great novel to keep me entertained.
10)What would you say is your best assets?
My smile, my personality and my intellectual being. I am proud of the fact that I am a fast thinker on my feet and that I can adapt quickly to any situation by God’s grace.
11)Where do you see yourself in 7 years time?
In seven years, I see myself completing my academic studies, becoming the CEO of a reputable company and beginning a family of my own while simultaneously contributing actively to my charitable causes to ensure a bright future for the Young People of my country Guyana
12)What do you think of the Fashion Police News Blog?
In my opinion, the Fashion Police News Blog is a blog built on passion and love for what somoneone embodies and believes in. From running through the various articles and pictures on the blog one can see and learn so much and everything is well organized not only to build awareness to fashion trends but to empower both male and females to follow their dreams.
13)What do you think of men who teaches women how to walk?
I believe they are a blessing in disguise sent to bring out the hidden tiger in every woman. I learnt to walk from Richard Younge and Derek Moore, two men with a passion for teaching girls in Guyana to walk like Goddesses.
14)If the Fashion Police was to have dinner at your home what dish would you prepare?
Initially I would’ve said Roti & Curry as that is my utmost favorite dish but since it is the Fashion Police himself, I would love for you to experience a true Guyanese cuisine of Rich Cook-up Rice with Fry Fish and Fried Ripe Plantain and Trust me one spoonful and you wouldn’t want to leave my dinner table must less my country Guyana.
15)What advice do you have for others looking to walk into your footsteps?
My advice would be to follow my philosophy “With hard work and determination one can accomplish anything he/she sets his/her mind too”. Pageantry and Life itself is not an easy road, there will always be times when you will want to give up but just keep the faith and keep praying and you will see everything will fall into place.
16)Name one thing you just cannot leave home without?
My cell phone.
17)Tell us about other pageants you may have competed in if any?
Each pageant experience was a unique and treasured one. Miss PJD2 Caribbean Queen 2014 was my 8th pageant. The others are listed below;
  1. Winner of Miss East Bank Supermodel 2010
  2. 1st runner up - Miss Republic Bank Caricom Pageant 2010
  3. 1st runner up - Bartica Regatta Pageant 2013; Special Prize: Miss Congeniality
  4. Winner of Miss Guyana Jamzone 2013; Special Prizes: People’s Choice, Best Body, Best Gown and Best Smile
  5. Participant of Miss Caribbean Culture Pageant 2013
  6. 1st Runner up – Miss Jamzone International Pageant 2013; Special prizes: Best Costume and Best Fantasy Swimsuit
  7. 1st Runner up – Miss Guyana Universe 2013
18)What music would have you running to the dance floor to shake your booty?
Good old energetic Soca. Nothing better to relieve some stress than shaking to some Jomo Primo, Allison Hinds, Mr. Killa or even Machel Montano.
19)Who are your 4 best friends you would ride and die for?
My mother, My brother Quincy and my best friend from since childhood to now Stephanie Bishop. A fourth person is yet to be identified since a best friend is not someone you would meet and claim over night.
20)What are 4 things you see ladies do in pageants that makes you mad?
That would have to be lack of confidence when on stage, sporting a plastic smile, poor preparation especially in talent and lack of camaraderie and showmanship. I believe pageantry is a way of empowering all women and we as pageant girls should always aim to be the role models that young girls can look up too and aim to be.
21)What perfume are you wearing as we speak?
Calvin Klein Euphoria for women, one of my all time favorite scents.
22)Winning the crown from 16 other contestants how was that feeling?
A feeling of great accomplishment for my Country, Pageant camp and myself. There is no better feeling in the world to know that all your hard work and preparation have paid off to gain you a Regional crown.
23)Any last words for our many blog readers from around the world?
I would just like to leave the blog readers with a quote that always pushes me to be a better person every day of my life. I pray it has the same motivation on you.
Mahatma Gandhi – “Be the positive change you wish to see in the world”

4) What made you decide to compete in Ms Mature Carnival Pageant 2014?

With my commitment to Carnival, I have been following this pageant ever since and when I saw they brought it back to the scene 2 years ago I was very excited. Ms mature is a Carnival pageant for women aged from 28 years and up. It would definitely be St Lucia, I was there on a cruise last October and I just loved it. But the time I spent was just too short for me to really indulge and take advantage. The island is very tropical and has an unsurpassed beauty; it is the proof of the beautiful wonders of Mother Nature.

I see myself CEO of my own family J and to the peak of my involvement in our community.

Life experience - The girl is still out there setting her goals, looking for new challenges and looking for her path while the woman is fully complete with her life experience and is already at her stage of accomplishments.
