Fashion Police speaks to fitness queen Nazia Fiaz

1) For those who are not familiar with you please tell us about who you are and what you do?

Hi I’m Naz. Master Fitness Trainer/Weight Loss Coach and Motivator for BodycoachUK. I’ve been involved in the fitness industry for over 8 years and love everything about my role. I specialise in fat loss/female figure training with my unique approach to body training.

2) What makes you different from the other body coaches?

Definitely my approach! For me it’s about my clients. From the day they join, to the day they achieve their goal(s). I take a very personal yet serious approach to fitness......every client is pushed beyond their maximal limit if they are serious about changing the way their bodies look. They do this without (yes WITHOUT) dieting!
Once a client has trained with me.....they leave with more than just a new body...it’s a whole new attitude about themselves.
Being bi-lingual and probably one of the few successful Asian female trainers out there gives me a unique standing in my current position.

3) What 4 tips do you have for women when it comes to eating correct?

Eat right – at least every 3 hours in small portions!
Do not miss breakfast – let’s try it louder; DO NOT MISS BREAKFAST!!!
Easy on the carbs – fast, sugary, quick fix foods are a no no if you’re serious about losing weight!
Do not eat because you’re bored or have nothing else to do!

4) What's one thing you just can’t leave home without?

My mobile.....my clients, family, friends & associates can reach me there anytime so it’s an absolute must!

5) How can anyone learn more about what you do especially if they reside on the other side of the world?

Twitter: @BodycoachUK
Facebook: Nazia Fiaz

6) If you had the chance to bring 2 people to your work out class who would it be and why?

Mr. Fierce.......yes the Catwalk Professor himself.....I’d like to see how “fierce” he really is after I finish him off in one of my sessions!
Oprah Winfrey.....as inspirational as she is, that lady has gone up and down with her weight like a yo-yo more times than any other celeb I can think of right now. She may be good at guiding others but she needs a lesson in being guided!

7) Do you believe being fat is not healthy? Does being thin means you’re healthy?

For me it’s about being healthy, proportioned and at a healthy body fat level. Being thin does not necessarily mean healthy. Thin in most cases I’ve seen means a very high unhealthy level of body fat.

8) What advice do you have for someone who is overweight but have problems losing it?

Get up and take action! If you have tried all other methods and countless diets, then let’s do it properly without dieting, without starving.
It’s all about knowing how to work with your body. You are unique. The way you’re body loses fat is therefore also unique. Don’t follow pointless diet plans. Let a professional guide you and show you how to lose weight permanently.

9) If you were not a fitness trainer what would you be?

That’s a tough one. Although I’m a bit of an all rounder so maybe something that’s active, physically demanding & fun!

10) Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Still doing what I’m doing and changing lives!

11) Are you single/married/relationship?

That’s an interesting question which has an interesting response.....interesting enough not to share!

12) Describe what true beauty is to you in your eyes?

“True beauty is a ‘skill’ only few have the ability to master & which is not based on the way you look.....master this skill internally & the results will be appear externally”.

13) As a fitness instructor tell us what your day foods are?

It varies on a day to day basis and depends on the location from which I am working on a particular day.
My usual stack of daily foods consists of: porridge/nuts/seeds/dried fruit/fish/eggs/chicken.

14) What advice for anyone who wants to gain weight?

Firstly eat – yes eat. An increase in your daily calorific intake will increase your body weight
Exercise correctly – there’s often a misconception that people wanting to gain weight shouldn’t exercise. That’s rubbish. All you need to do is to make sure that you exercise the right way avoiding too many long duration workouts.
Increase your protein intake - a key nutrient and a building block for weight gain.
Don’t follow any online weight gain programme. Work with a professional.
Supplement only once you know enough about what you’re taking.

15) Describe your fashion sense?

Changes according to mood rather than fashion! Comfy, stylish & something that says me!

MAKE UP ARTIST Francesca Angel (hands of magic)

1)For those who are not familiar with you tell us briefly who you are and what you do?

Hi there, my name is Francesca Angel and I have been a make up artist for over 8 years. I work for MAC Cosmetics  in London and freelance within the Bridal, TV and Fashion circuit. I also combine make up and photography for my own personal conceptual works.

2)There are so many make up artists out there what makes you different from the rest?

I have an edge to my art and I do see it as art. It's easy to to the subtle day to day make up but it's what outside of those boundaries that sets one make up artist apart from the next. I take Inspiration from emotion, nature, elements, even life and death resulting in a message it portrays to the viewer, not just what shade of eyeshadow is on an eye lid, I like to go deeper than that.

3)When your not doing make up what do you do in your spare time?

I love photography and have been working on a few things this year. I love to travel around too, hang out with friends, people watching is also good.

4)What are 3 major mistakes women make when doing their own make up?

Hmm I see a lot of people every day, I reckon the 3 mistakes a woman makes are

- Routine- you often get a lady wearing the same lippy and shadow shade for the last 10 years..bin it and try something else!

- Not using skin care, a primer or a moisturiser. These are important products to help prolong make up and to keep your skin nice and supple and well hydrated.

- Ladies when you want to look a little bit more tanned and opt for a darker foundation, blend into the jaw line and below to stop any unsightly mask lines.

5)If you could do the make up for 3 person of your choice who would it be and why?

Oooh now this is a good question firstly I'd have to pick..

Lady Gaga, her whole image is art and I would love to get my hands on her face to create something mindblowing, maybe around the theme of air or water.

David Bowie, not as iconic as the Aladdin Sane album cover, but just because I think he has the most beautiful face and would be an honour even just to tab him with a bit of anti shine powder

Marc Bolan from T.Rex, the elfin androgynous beauty who invented glam rock by smearing glitter under his eyes, he is not on this earth anymore but this guy was a real influence in my life when I was younger. I would love to have done his album covers.

6)Whats one thing you always have in your purse and you cant leave home without it?

It's an eyeshadow from MAC called "Sketch" I use it wet and use it on my eyebrows for a really defined brow. Eyebrows are very important.

7)Where do you get your inspiration from?

I look to other artists like Alex Box who is just technically amazing. Also Jack Pierce who bought to life Frankenstein in 1931..very very inspiring

8)Are you in a relationship/single/married/divorced?

Well, I am currently single after a 5 year relationship. I am now trying to enjoy single life with no complications.

9)What are 4 things you look for in someone when dating?

Someone who can make me laugh, really really laugh, Someone creative and passionate about what they do in life. Nice values, morals and really really kind.

10)How can someone view your work are book you for an upcoming job?

You can look at my website which is

11)What make up is best to use and why?

For me, the majority of my kit is MAC so I am a bit biased. For foundations I would definitely say MAC. The foundations in my opinion cater for every skin type and tone but it is good to shop around for other things.

12)what advice you have for anyone intrested in doing make up as a job?

Stay determined and you can't go wrong. I am self taught and never trained. I did shoots and created a portfolio showcasing what I could do from my late teens.
Don't be scared to experiment with colour and texture, if you have an idea roll with it.
Try not to do too much free work!!! This is a big no no we are artists and have a skill which shouldn't be taken advantage of.

Qeen of P.R Melanie Jones speaks to Fashion Police

1) Please tell us a little about yourself for those who may not know you and what sort of work you do?

I am MJ and I have my eponymous public relations agency: Melanie Jones PR. I am also features writer at Unfolded Magazine.

2) What makes you different from any other Pr person?

I am bi-lingual, German/English. I studied business management and later psychology. Having worked for some market research companies has left a lasting imprint on me. So has an internship at the broadcasting channel ZDF in Germany, work at OH TV here in the UK and working at an internet service provider all of them are fast-paced sink-or-float environments. These are just some of my most invaluable experiences that relate to what I do now and have shaped me. You don’t have a choice but to learn and adapt quickly if you want to be in the industry. I have a genuine enthusiasm and passion for not only my work, but also that of my clients and my clients themselves. I break the rules (not legally of course!) but I remain passionately ethical. I also worked as model in Germany as well as London.

3) What’s one thing you cant leave your house without?

I can’t leave my house without my phone & charger!

4) What do you do in your free time when you are not working?

There is not much of that. I am always researching, brainstorming but the beauty is I can combine work & pleasure i.e. attend gigs, events However I love traveling when I have the chance and doing this on my own is particularly liberating.

5) How can someone view your work that may be living on the other side of the world?

www.unfoldedmag.com  (for articles)
and of course follow my clients via their websites & pages.

6) What are 4 things you admire in any man?

In any person I admire
  • ·       kindness (there seems to be almost an art form of being kind without being a doormat or anyone’s fool and it takes strength and level consciousness).
  • ·       non-judgmental: a pre-requisite for flexibility, understanding and acceptance: The longer people know me the more they realize how unpredictable I am I don’t take it for granted to be accepted as I am.
  • ·       driven: shows me passion vision someone that does more than just merely exist
  • ·       fun don’t let my appearance fool you ;)

7) What advice you have for anyone thinking of going in PR?

  • ·       Find your passion there are different fields within it and as there is lots of hard work and sleepless nights waiting for you, doing it within a field that you love makes it feel less like work.
  • ·       Internships and work experience give you a good foundation.
  • ·       Research, research and research – not just for you, your field and business but this includes your client as well. I meet people who told me they have interviewed different companies but were never asked to provide information that I ask of them. Missing out on angles for publicity is just one of many repercussions.
  • ·       Don’t burn bridges you have to cross (whether intentionally or unintentionally). Industries are too small.

8) If there were 2 people you had the chance to represent, who would it be and why?

I do that right now! I love working with the clients on board now. By the time people are known, pr process has already taken place in some shape or form. Nothing is more exciting to work with new brands/talent/products. However being challenged to turn a pr nightmare in to a dream can be just as exciting. I have the pleasure to count the hottest and innovative fashion design talents as my clients: award-winning JOSE HENDO and SEROGE so keep looking out for them. I am also honoured to count award-winning celebrity make-up artist Karen Salandy as my client. There are more but currently there is a bit of re-shuffle. So there are news to come. There is a time and place for everything in this case it’s 2012.

9) What word best describes you?

Unconventional

10) This one is for all our male readers who would love to know. Are you single/relationship/married?

I don’t think anyone wants to know.
I am married to work and in a relationship with my friends and fam. They are my rock. DA, CL, ZD, KS, DW, AP,  – the ones concerned will know. ;)
So in short: unavailable.

11) Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

This really relates to my clients’ as their success is my success. I see them as established, profitable international growing brands. Subsequently for me see myself in 5 years time a position of giving back; providing employment and internships. Having a recognized national and international presence and expanded portfolio and branching out in to different areas.

U.K MOST SOUGHT AFTER PHOTOGRAPHER...Mr Peter Branch

1)For those that are not familiar with you tell us briefly who u are and your background on what you do?

My name is Peter Branch and I’m a photographer from Barbados. My day job involves helping to create professional colour grading systems for Hollywood, but I have a deep passion for photography. To be honest, photography is playing an increasingly bigger part of my life – and I welcome that increase.

2) What makes you different from all other photographers?
Along with the extraordinary diversity of my personal background, it’s my inner drive to be the best. I don’t specialise, instead I seem to find beauty in every aspect of the world.

3) What are some top secrets when someone is in front of the camera?
You need to be relaxed and spontaneous. Sure, preparation is important – but once you’ve in the shoot, either as a model or photographer – you need to be prepared to seize opportunities. It’s often the shot you didn’t plan that makes the whole session worthwhile. Models need to “Go for it” – to lose themselves in the moment. That engagement is key to working with me.

4) If there were 2 people you had the chance to do a photo shoot with who would it be with and why?
The Queen & President Obama, because they are two of the most prominent people in the world & to be commissioned by either - for any artist - would be the pinnacle of success. Getting that kind of opportunity would mean that I had already achieved my goals in terms of personal development.

5) How can someone view your work who might be on the other side of the world?
People can view my most recent work via facebookwww.facebook.com/peterbphotos or my websitewww.peterbphotos.com

6) What do you do in your spare time when not working?
Lol… Spare time? What is that? I never stop seeing shots, whether I’m driving, chatting with friends or focused on solving a serious problem at work. I took up salsa dancing earlier this year & I love it, but recently I haven't had as much time for dancing as I would like… but I do love dancing.

7) Share your 4 best fashion tips to everyone reading this blog.
Dress for the occasion. If you’re unsure, then overdress as it's easier to take something off in order to fit in rather than be under dressed.
Experiment with style – and don't be afraid to try something new that’s out of your comfort zone - you may like it!
Invest in a nice watch that suits your lifestyle. If you own more than one then wear the appropriate one to suit your attire.
Always smell nice & be well groomed.

8) How can someone tell a bad photographer from a good one?
Photography is the capture of light & a good photographer will know the best way to use light to shape the image they capture – to make sure you see what they want you to see.
A photo should make the subject & the photographer look good. If it is doing neither of these things then it's not a good photographer that took the image.
A good photographer never shows his bad shots.

9) We here at Fashion Police News Blog we like to know everything so our readers know it all....are you married? DO you have kids?
I am single right now (divorced) & I have 4 beautiful children, ranging from 11 to 28

10) What cologne you just can’t live without?

Anything by Givenchy. My favourite is Irresistible or, on occasion, Marc Jacobs’ Bang

11) Who inspires you most as a photographer - and how can you be contacted for a booking?
My uncle Carl back in Barbados has always been my biggest inspiration. My first memories of a camera, was his Hasselblad in a brown leather case & I loved playing with it as a boy. Over the years I watched him & listened to him talk about his passion & love for photography. Now there are three photographers in our family, including his son Karl, who is currently one of the best photographers in Barbados. Aside from him I would say Rankin, Araki, David Bailey, Nigel Barker, along with any other photographers that have captured a unique image - no matter the genre.

I can be contacted via my website www.peterbphotos.comwww.facebook.com/peterbphotos @ptrbee on twitter peter@peterbphotos or 07580211126

12) What are a few things you like when working with models are anyone in front the camera?
I love a challenge but I also like the person to be confident in & sure of themselves. The camera captures what it sees & fear doesn't look good.

Overall, try to have fun. Even when the subject matter might be serious, if the photographer and model engage, then communication becomes almost telepathic. Even in quite a short session, a good degree of trust is built up and that will help the shot inspire and captivate future viewers.
