All these careers are my passion and keep me motivated and enjoying life to its full. I love to model on fashion shows as well as work with different photographers and TV / Film Producers; being versatile and creative is my passion!
I have had a great career so far and am having great pleasure working as a model, traveling and meeting new people all around the world. I am have a mix of Indian and part Turkish which has given me a unique and versatile look, this can be used to represent many different cultures. I have a great fun and easy to get on with personality that I love to share. I also have lots of experience in all the genres of the modeling industry and I'm very confident. Please feel free to browse through some selection of my pics you can find more details on my personal website. (www.modelmun.co.uk)

2)       What best 3 words describes you?
Passionate, dedicated and driven

3)       When you’re not working what do you enjoy doing?
My passion and hobby is training. So when I have some spare time I love going to the gym and working out. But I also love many other sports such as boxing and kickboxing… so allot my spare time is used in this passion.

4)       Whats one thing you cant leave your house without?
My house keys! Haha! Otherwise I cant get in! lol

5)       What are your 4 fashion tips to our male readers?
My four fashion tips for readers are:
1.     Be brave! Wear what YOU love wearing! With this attitude you can pull anything off!
2.     Shoes, shoes and shoes! Its all about good shoes! So make sure what your wearing goes well with the shoes!
3.     Be creative! – Mix and match! If it looks good…. And you feel good in it; then wear it!
4.     Be aware! Sometimes looking at fashion mags, music videos or even general TV shows, it always gives you a good idea of what’s in and what’s not…. But I always say… original is best… do something unique… it will def turn the heads!

6)       Is it easy being an asian model in this fashion world?
In one word NO! Working in the main stream industry as a model, can be very hard. I don’t know many Asian models that have made it all the way to the top. Doing small Asian shows and Asian shoots, yes anyone can do them…. But it’s very rare that you will see an Asian model to be the face of something like Hugo boss, Prada, CK etc…. It’s a harsh truth, but it’s taken me a very long time to accept and realize this. I want to break the ice for all the other Asian models out there…. So sometimes my shoots can be pushing the limit – but I am trying to represent ALL the Asian models out there, saying YES we are just as good and HEY look at us!

7)       What was the feed back you got from your family when you started to model?
I am very lucky. MY family has ALWAYS supported me in what ever road or destination I wanted to pursue in life. When they knew I was serious in modeling and began to see me on TV shows, music videos, calendars and magazines they was very proud and hoped I will get the lucky break I been working so hard for.

8)       What music would get you dancing away on the dance floor?
I am a terrible dancer and have no confidence in dancing! Lol! But I do like a little boogie now and then! Lol! I love listening to Arabic house and dance music…. Something I can train to and also relate to…. But honestly I have NO DANCE skills what so ever! *blushing!

9)       Are you single/married/relationship?
I am married to a very beautiful woman, Rachna. It was our 9th wedding anniversary this xmas day! We was extremely young when we married…. And we have been together almost 11 yrs now! She deserves a medial to put up with me! Lol! Seriously, she my best friend as well as my wife.

10)     What attracts you to someone?
As corny as this may sound, the smile and eyes…. I thin you can tell a lot about someone by their eyes and the way they smile… I love people, with kindness and goodness in their hearts. And the bonus thing is someone who can make me laugh, that’s always the cherry on top. All my close friends are amazing to people to be around; they are sincere, loving and very funny…. The kind of people you would love to be around. I am very lucky to have this in my life.

11)     Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
I would like to say doing TV and film work on a full time basis and becoming a house hold name. This has always been my passion and aim ever since I have started to model years ago. But this journey has been a roll coaster for me. I have had so many knock backs rejections and also times where I ask myself what am I doing? Why am I putting myself under these constant challenges… and I tell myself, its because I want to become a someone…. And one day it WILL happen… I need to focus more and push myself out more.
So if I’m not in TV by then, I will let fate decide….

12)     If you had the change to change one thing about the fashion industry what would it be and why?
I would change the mould for all successful models being match stick thin! I am ALWAYS told to loose weight or tone down as I am “too big” as a ramp, fashion or editorial model. I have modeled all around the world now and worked with many famous designers. My last international shoot was working on tour all around India. I was in Mumbai, Calcutta, Hyderabad, Delhi, I was very lucky to show case many celebrity designers pieces but to do this I had to loose over 6kg in body weight! I lost this weight in 2 weeks, it made me feel very weak and ill.
I think designers need to understand… in the real world… men and women are not THAT skinny and they should design outfits with people with a little more shape to them.

13)     Do you shave your body with a razor are do you wax?
I am a wimp! Lol! Razor! Waxing hurts WAY too much and always leaves spots and marks…. I use a body groomer and sometimes veet it… for extra smooth feel! Haha!

14)     What's the most challenges you get from being a model?
The biggest challenge I have as a model is to look ripped all year round. I have good athletic shape, but to maintain that all year round requires a lot of dedication in diet and training for me.

15)     Which other male models in the industry u.k do you look up to and why?
I know this may sound big headed and its not meant to be at all…. But I don’t look up to any male or female model in the industry at all. I admire many of my colleges work but for me… I wanna achieve so much more than modeling.

16)     If you could get the chance to do a photo shoot with 3 people who would they be and why?
All though there are many people I would like to work with, the three people I would love to shoot with are:
1.       Hrithik Roshan
2.       Aishwarya Rai
3.       John Abraham
These are the people I admire the most in the whole industry.  Not only are they amazing models, actors and celebrities; these are people who I think are super star status. The shoot for me would be amazing and truly a life time experience.

17)     As a model you meet so many beautiful women what is true beauty to you?
I have been lucky enough to work with the most beautiful and talented models in the industry. But after all this time, I realized outside beauty means nothing unless they are beautiful people from the inside. Without mentioning names: some models have been absolutely flawless, but their arrogant and self absorbed nature makes them appear so ugly. Real beauty to me is the way a person addresses themself and behaves. They need to show love, respect and kindness to all… that is a beautiful person.

18)     What message do you have for girls who just go crazy about your body?
Lol…. Thanks… I always appreciate the support from people.

19)     What advice do you have for aspiring male model?
Keep trying, don’t let one persons choice dictate your final decision in the industry. In this career you meet people who will love your look and people who will hate it. There is a niche for everyone…. You just need to find your one.

Ms Lilian is the hard working face behind Vibe Model Management who don't settle for less

1)Please tell us who you are and what you do for those not familiar with you?

My name is Lilian Kristensen, known as Lili amongst friends.I am the founder and CEO of Vibe International Models: http://www.vibeinternational.com  Its a modeling agency with base in London and second office in Oslo. Our main passion is fashion, runway and editorial. However we also have a department for commercial models, actors, dancers and people: http://people.vibeinternational.com  I truly believe that this industry has so much to offer, so it is wise to be able to supply to our clients various requests, whether they are fashion-or commercial related.

2)What word best describes you as a woman?

Personally I believe there are so many different things that defines a woman and all woman possess their own uniqueness and beauty. However if I am to describe myself it would be like this: I am passionate and ruled by my heart both in business and my personal life. This means that every step I take in both areas have to be a step I can live with peacefully.I am very ambitious but believe that it is essential for your well being to enjoy your process, wherever it is that you are heading. My main focus for gaining more, is having more to give.I love my family and friends. They are my inspiration.I draw my strength from God and from him there is no limit, meaning my strenght as a woman is also unlimited.I am an eternal optimist and see only possibilities. On a more superficial level I love pampering myself and do it every single day.The better you look after yourself inside and out, the more you honour the God who created you.Every day I reallise I have so much more to learn and I therefore welcome every challenge, good or bad.All of it is in the end our gift and based on this philosophy I live my life to the best of my ability.I can hand on heart say I am happy.

3)Name one thing you just cant leave home without?

My mobile phone, daaaaahr...

4)Are you married/single/relationship?

I am currently single.

5)What is the hardest thing in running an agency?

The hardest thing is to get clients to pay the appropriate and professional fee`s for the models. Also, to make the models understand that recieveing the best assignments requires potential, hard work and alot of patience.Today, because so many models out there keep offering their services to clients for free it makes it challenging. If clients know that they can contact models directly and the model will accept, with no protection or proper fee, they will ofcourse sease the opportunity to save on their budget. This is due to accesibility related to all the official sites models can now promote themselves. However, those models with true potential and professional attitude tend to achieve most success within the protecion of their agency.I have seen it happen several times and I am always greatful for those models who believe and understand these principles.

6)What do you look for when scouting for models?

I look for height, good face, uniqueness and slim, but healthy physique.

7)What do you think of the models who are size 0?

I resent size 0.It is really not necesssary to look like a skeleton to be a successful model. When I talk to young girls I always ask them if they are naturally slim and if they eat enough. My advice to those models who are not naturally a model size.Do not try to be a model! Its not worth it.I encourage excersise and healty eating. If you are not naturally slim, you can be a commercial model.I dont make the rules for the fashion industry, but I do have to follow it.So my fashion models do need to be slim for Vibe to be able to offer the clients what they request. However, I see it as my duty to protect my models and not encourage them to diet.If it is not natural for them to be slim, they will simply not be taken on as fashion models.I encourage education versus unreallistic hope of becoming a model. You are either born a model or not.

8)There are so many agencies out there what makes your agency different?

Yes, I do love all of the other agencies, because their achievements inspire me.I see them as my respected colleagues. There is room for everybody in this industry. You just have to find your own place in it.How Vibe is different: Ok, very early in my agency carrier one of my clients said this to me: "We are amased by how friendly and down to earth you are. This so refreshing and has made it a true pleasure working with you.I know you are new and entusiastic, but NEVER EVER change your attitude no matter how successful you become".I never forgot that.So the way I believe Vibe can be different is our sincerity and integrity. My clients are always talking to a person.I create real relations. But dont be fooled! I have no time for people not willing to offer good business or wanting to take advantage in one way or another. My models are my number one priority and protecting them within the frame of Vibe is essential.

9)What are your thoughts on models with curves on the runway?

I accually love it! Personally I love curves. However, fashion is a form of art the way I see it.When I go to a runway show I love the slightly unattainable image of the models. Its like admiring a beautiful painting. Its different. And I dont see why it should not be that way.I used to be a dancer and did alot of ballett.A ballerina needs to be slim too.The audience love the beauty of it.Its performance. Its a show. Its entertainment.Sometimes it is important to accept that everything does not have to be open to suit everybody. If you have curves, you are not a fashion model. If you have no curves, you are not a commercial model.I think we should embrace eachothers differences and allow designers to choose slim models if thats what they want. When I went to the Ballet Academy I was told every day I was too fat.My bum was too big and my thighs not slim enough.I just laughed, because I love my little curves. It just meant that my strength as a dancer had to be elsewhere. When I was offered a dancejob in a pop video, I was made.Moral of the story: Be happy with who you are and find your place within the industry based on your potential.By all means, make changes, but not at the cost of your own integrity or selfasteem.

10)If you had the chance to change the fashion world what would you change and why?

I would put all models into agencies and stop the abuse that is happening today. This means that all of the models would be protected, payed professional fee`s and clients would get outmost quality each time.A win-win for all.
The industry would remain of high quality and it would mean that the title "model" would be earned and placed upon the model based on their true potential and achievement. These days the word "model" is something anyone can title themselves and I dont agree with that.

11)What's beauty in your words?

A big heart that shines through you every time you smile. Its in the eyes too.How you look at people, agnowledge them and allow them to be seen and feel good in your presense. To me thats true beauty.

12)What do you think of models of colour on the catwalks?

I think it should always be 50-50.100% equal. In this day and age we should no longer be separated in any way, shape or form.Every industry should reflect that.Models of colour are so incredibly gracious and beautiful, both the woman and the men.I represent models of all colours on my books and I will keep doing so.For each fashion show I will give equal opportunities to all models.I dont accually see colour.I just see people. One day I truly hope that the rest of the industry and the world will see it the same way.

13)How can someone from the other side of the world learn more about your agency?

It happening every day! People from all over the world is contacting Vibe.Agencies from China.Models from USA, Africa and so on.Vibe is out there via our website and network. It is comforting to know we have achieved a fantastic level of reaching the world. This is a good foundation for steady growth in the future.
14)If there was one place you could fly to and collect models where would you go and why?

I already have great places where my models are based.Scandinavia holds amasingly stunning models.London has a superb variety of models of all kinds and diversity. But if I could fly somewhere to get new faces I would go to Russia and Somalia. Two countries that possess tall people with a different and unique look that is very suitable for fashion.

15)What tips do you have for anyone wanting to be a model?

Listen to the experts in the industry and what they have to tell you about your potential.Their opinion is the opinion that is correct according to what the industry demands.Go to an agency and ask them before you start on a campaign of becoming a model. If you have potential, the agency will help you every step of the way.Be very careful and do not book photoshoots without supervision, guidance and research.

16)Do you represent models from all over the world?

I do indeed, but most of our work is here in London and in Oslo.Models from other countries stay on our books, so that a client have the opportunity to fly them to a destination should their budget allow this.

17)What music would have you running to the dance floor to shake your booty?

RnB all the way baby.

18)What are 4 things in your words that makes a man a gentleman?

Kind heart, sincerity, respect and generousity. When I say generousity I dont necessarily mean gifts, allthough I do love gifts! I mean generousity of spirit.A man who is open and enjoys giving and sharing of himself.I love getting to know a man.Its so much fun, especially if you are connecting on more than one level.A friend and a lover rolled into one. These things combined with a sense of humeour and you have got a winner!

19)Describe your fashion sense?

I love dresses.Cant get enough.High heals are essential.I adore being a woman and dress accordingly. My style is very feminine.Regards to clothes Im not too into labels but just buy a dress if it fits me well and I like the colour and style. It gives me great satisfaction when I can buy a dress for under £30 and make it look like a million dollars. However handbags need to be a label.Love Louis Vuitton and Guess handbags.I am more classical than trendy and clothes needs to be comfortable, soft and fit my figure perfectly.Every time I dress is a celebration of being a woman whether its casual or glamorous.

20)What message do you have for all aspiring models around the world?

Please have reallistic expectations. The model industry is so tough, very few models achieve huge success. For those who do, its incredible but still hard work.If you are strong and possess true potential, I will encourage pursuing a modeling carrier. However you must make sure you have a good back-up with your education, parential guidance, a good agency and good friends.Their support is essential. You cannot possibly do it alone.Listen to your agent and be patient. The road from being a new face to a successful model may take some time. This industry is beautiful yet scary. It is important to be grounded and allow yourself the time to develope. Each day provides a new opportunity, and thats the one thing that makes this industry so interresting. You never know what is around the corner.

21)Where do you see yourself in 5 years

I am still running Vibe.Where I am in the world at that time is yet unknown.Hopefully I will have settled by then. That is my aim.Vibe follows me everywhere but my home will in the end be where my true love is.I hope to find him...

3)What is one thing you cant leave your house without?

Well my keys of course silly! Haha only kidding! Hmm lets see..Probably my shea butter for my lips, I never go any where without that. The only thing that keeps these lips sexy in this chapping Country, lol

4)If you had the chance to visit just one place in the world where would it be and why?

South America most absolutely! Its the birth place to real soulful people. The music, energy, food, people and the actual soil is so unique organic and uplifting.
Its truly beautiful!

5)What has been your highlight since appearing on Big Brother?

I can't even front, the highlight for me has been the massive amount of people whose lives I have impacted on in a positive way. I now have people running up to me saying I have inspired them to think well, live well and eat well, and more importantly to just be themselves.
There has been an amazing response of young women who look up to me as a role model and I am truly humbled and
so honored to be such an inspiration.

6)Are you in a relationship/married/single?

Lol..Well Yes actually its a new relationship.. I'm very smitten is the least to say. I was sent an angel. We have already been tested so greatly however its unconditional from my part ..I have never felt so connected.

7)What are your thoughts on the end results on big brother?

Puhahahaha..Sorry I had a slight cough. Well regardless of my opinion or anybody else's. Aaron has always wanted to be a BB contestant, for 10 years he has breathed, ate, slept BB. He knows the ins and the outs. He needed to win!
And you know what he got what he really needed..is it deserved? NOPE! BUT this is the perfect example that if you really want something, you will get it..Its the law! The law of attraction.

8)There is a saying we would like you to adress......there is a saying you dont like gays and that you said so please adress to our many readers?

Excuse me? I love happy people so that's just rubbish! ...Ohhhh those gays? lol..Sorry my bad!..Still rubbish! Absolute bull crap! I would love to see or read where this was apparently said because I could never dislike a person just for being
gay. NEXT!

9)In your own words ......describe what beauty is?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder..BUT ya'll be holding some ugly motherfu****s! Looool
I am totes kidding, haha! I just had to get that in..Soz!
TRUE beauty is a person who accepts, embraces, and loves themselves for every part of their being,
starting from the inside out!

10)What's your 4 fashion tips to all women?

I always say to women that it does not matter if you are thin or thick framed, black or white, curvy or boyish.
The absolute imperative thing is to dress accordingly for your shape.
There are many tricks in the "game" of fashion too. Learn what works for you, because one womans stripes is another womans "no no! "
Nobody can tell another what to wear, but we must work with what we have and feel 100% confident and sexy!

11)What makes you the realess  person ever on big brother?

I entered the BB house with one strategy and that was that I was going to be myself 100 percent!
That may have been why I never won. However  I was never two faced, I never stole from anybody.
I never bed hopped from man to man. You never caught me kissing a female just to abstain from eviction.
I most certainly never pretended to befriend a housemate only to try and turn the rest of the house against them by lying
or spreading rumors that they  were stealing food.lool
To be blunt I kept it too real, and none of those people had ever seen anybody so honest, upfront and confident as myself
before.They just couldn't handle me.

12)What are some things that attracts you to someone?

I looove eyes, not only because they are the window to the soul but because they are so informative. I love confidence, good sense of humour, sex appeal. Love height as well, most of all I just love raw honest people.

13)Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?

Well most certainly married with a happy family ..Healing the world, with my message of love , and my teachings of self love of the mind body, soul and spirit.
No matter what it is I achieve, i'm sure that I'll be a household name, content and very successful.lol

14)What music would have heaven running to the dance floor?

OMG, It would totally be tribal/minimal house and Brazilian funk music..They are both very similar..But I don't even need a drink to feel these beats, they naturally invade and rule my soul, and I love it!

15)What advice you may have for anyone thinking on going on big brother?

Don't trust anybody, especially the smiling assassins,lol ..Just be prepared mentally that nothing or nobody is real.
Most importantly don't stress about how you are being perceived on the outside. Have fun with it!

16)Do you think your a true representation of a today's woman if yea/no why?

Erm that's quite a question because I am a bit of today's woman and most certainly an ancient soul.
In the terms of todays woman, I am independent(but dont get it twisted still want the mans company, none of this ,I dont need a man bs).
I'm not afraid to express my sexuality or sensuality in an obvious way. Sometimes in my clothing, or my body language or words but I don't put it about by being promiscuous. I know the levels or shall I say the line to cross.
In a way i look at myself as a modern day Cleopatra.

17)If you could go back into big brother right now what would be one thing you would change are not say?

Lets see.....NOTHING! Hahaha!

18)What one word best describe you?

Unique

19)Describe your fashion sense

I never follow fashion..I have style, and that's something your either born with or not!
I stick two fingers up at fashion.
My style is a mix of how i'm feeling on the day as well. With some Afrikan influences, thrown in with a bit of household furniture even..loool..
Whatever works ,I'll roll with it!
I never imitate, I always innovate!

Ms Pauline Long C.E.O/FOUNDER BEFFTA Awards a true today's woman

1)Please tell us briefly who you are for those who are not familiar with you and what kind of work you do?
I'm Pauline Long, a mother, wife, entrepreneur, philanthropist, presenter, fashion designer, events producer and manager amongst other things.
2)What word best describe you as a person?
Passionate
3)Whats one thing you just cant leave home without?
Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream for lips. I love it, love it, love it.
4)There are so many awards shows what makes the BEEFTA awards different from the rest?
It is an award ceremony that purely gives back by appreciating, celebrating and honouring talented black and ethnic personalities in entertainment, film, fashion, television and arts. We bring together artists under one room to celebrate each other's achievements whether they work behind the scenes as a make up artist, camera man, djs as well as the artists who are always in the front like musicians, actors, models and more. We are a hard working community that do not get appreciated enough. The award is also a way of encouraging our community to achieve at the highest level in this competitive global village.
5)We know you are always busy and also have a family how do you manage your timing with both?
It's easy I work around my children's time-table as they come first so I fit everything around them. And I mean that literally from managing one of London's largest studios East End Studios to organising Europe's biggest award ceremony for black and ethnic personalities in performing arts.
6)We know you have some awards you have received for the role you play in this society tell us about it all?
The awards are very special to me. To be celebrated for giving back and doing what I'm passionate about is such a great honour. I have received GAB award, previous recipient of this award include Nelson Mandela, I have received WIE award, AFIA award, UKAA Award, FAN Eminent persons award, M&M(Music&Movies) award just to name a few.
7)Where do you see the BEFFTA awards in 5 years time?
BEFFTA awards is growing and reaching out to the wider community, besides BEFFTA UK and BEFFTA USA, BEFFTA Africa is launching in 2012 and BEFFTA USA is launching soon after. Our aim is not just to be the biggest but to maintain what BEFFTA stands for and hopefully we will be creating some jobs for the community while we introduce other projects under BEFFTA. Sorry I cannot talk about these projects yet.
8)How would you describe your fashion sense?
My fashion sense is individual to me. It is classic yet clean and elegant. I like wearing dresses with straight cuts to define my small frame. I love bright colours, red is my favourite but I will also wear blue or orange and yellow on happy days. I don't follow trends and I rarely shop on the high street as it is extremely hard to find something that I like and fits me well being a size 6. The only things I will buy on the high street shops are pairs of jeans. I love my lack pair of skinny jeans, they are my favourite fashion items. If I could wear them everyday even on red carpet without the fashion police noticing then I would be the happiest.
9)What kind of music would have you moving your head and making your way to the dance floor?
It is seasonal, I could fall in love with rock music for 6 months, then the next 6 months hip-hop then Afro-beats for another eight months. I love good beats. I'm currently listening to Pass Out by Chris Brown constantly on repeat on my MP3 player. It has great vibes.
10)What are your 4 fashion tips for our many readers out there?
- Keep it simple but colourful, I don't believe you have to wear black as it is a safe colour. Once a week is fine otherwise you will lok like you are attending funerals on a daily basis.
- Mix and match pieces to create your own trend. You see what looks good on Kate might not look good on Victoria. Why not turn your favourite dress into a top and wear it with a beautifl skirt to match to create a totally new look.
- Shoe, shoes, shoes, it is vital to wear shoes that fit comfortably, forget the fashion trend just wear what fits otherwise you will end up doing the crab walk(walking like a crab) in tight shoes
- Have you looked in the mirror? Do you like what you see? Do you feel great, fantastic, gorgeous, confident in what you are wearing? Good! Then step out and let it show no matter what anyone says, you are the queen.
11)When you are not busy working what do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I love dancing to unwind but I don't go to night clubs, I go to dance classes. We also do random mini dance contests in my house with the children, sounds crazy doesn't it? The children love it, it is a good bonding session and time to be happy and silly. I enjoy playing chess, reading digital books on the internet and writing endlessly. I can picture  my writing turning into a serious career path.
12)What's your favourite meal to prepare?
As a vegetarian I've created my very own vegetarian recipe which my non-vegetarian guests and family never recognise it is actually mushrooms. Many times it has been mistaken for minced beef. I call it mushroom mince, there are more secret ingredients added to it, it is absolutely delicious served with pilau rice.
13)How can anyone from the other side of the world learn more about you?
I'm on facebook and on my official website www.paulinelong.com
14)In your own words what makes a man a real man?
Men, along subject, isn't it? In my opinion there is no real description of a real man. It is like asking what is the real definition of a real woman. We are who we are. If you can find a man who is kind, understanding, sensitive, must definitely open doors and pull those chairs out, a man who smiles when it is time to smile and a man who cries when it is time to cry then that's great.
15)If you were given a ticket to fly to any part of the world where would you go and why?
India is my dream location simply because I'm currently into production and I think certain parts of India are so beautiful they could provide a magnificent background and scenery for a movie set. However, I've always wanted to get a one way ticket to Mauritius, it is beautiful.
16)What are some of your likes and dislikes?
I like going deeper and discovering what I can achieve while I'm still alive, I like trying out new things. I like seeing the best in people as it helps bring out the best in me. I like walking, I cover at least 4 miles a day, it keeps me so fit. I like my natural locks, I've always wanted to be able to flick my own hair and just touch them any time  without worrying about finding a comb to fix the hairstyle.....wow I feel liberated! I do not like negative energy around me and I don't like it when one feels they cannot construct a whole sentence without using a swear word, swearing is a definite no no for me. It is a complete turn off
17)Do you think you are a true representation of today's woman?
I am my mother's daughter, I'm from my mother's era and she is definitely the only woman I want to be compared to. She is hard working, extremely caring, ambitious even in her old age, keeps her family together no matter what. Just like mother, I stick to my beliefs, I do not follow the crowd. I stand for what I believe in even if it means standing alone.

Designer Leeanne Ripley Designs from the heart with eyes to make you stand out

1)For those who are not familiar with you tell us briefly who you are and what you do?

My name is Leeanne Ripley-Garrett and I am a Fashion Designer and my label name is Ripley-Garrett. I graduated from UCA in Rochester in 2010 and have been in the process of launcing my own label since leaving uni. I have showed my current collection all over London and dressed a few celebrities for film awards and photoshoots. I have taken taken part in several celebrity events such as the Urban Music Awards 2010. I also had three garments shipped to Bahraine Fashion Week 2010 with Fashionaires. I was also awarded the Radical Designer 2010 award.

2)There are so many designers out there what makes you different from them all?

My inspiration for my collections are very emotional and personal being gained from my own life experiences. I feel that when I create a collection it is always unique with a sence of mystery and depth to it. I think that the events and emotions througout my life that have inspired me would never be able to be copied as these are personal thoughts and feeling inside my own head. My style and designs are unique and full of emotion with a story to tell. I feel this adds a personal unique touch to the collection and for the wearer of these garments.

3)What 2 words best describe your garments?

Emotional, Extravagent.

4)Where do you get your inspiration from when designing?

I like to take inspiration from many different areas. I like to focus my collections on emotions and anything personal to myself to give the collection a deeper meaning. I also get inspiration from visiting museums and historical places. I am particuarly inspired by the costume collection held at the Victoria and Albert Museum and visiting castles and anything that has a story of history to tell. I am also a very spiritual person so I take inspiration from many areas connected to this such as The Tarot and Fairys and anything mystical and magical.

5)When not working what do you enjoy doing?

I enjoy spending time with my horse Dannie, its nice to get away from all the hussle and bustle of life at times. As every girl loves, I also enjoy hitting the shops for a bargain. And of course chilling out with my friends is always a must.

6)How can someone from the other side of the world view your work?

I am currently in the process of launching my website www.ripley-garrett.co.uk and I also have a lot of my work published on my Facebook Group that is avaliable to view now at Leeanne Ripley Fashion Design. My work is also avalaible to view on the Google search engine.

7)If there was 3 people you had the chance to dress who would it be and why?

The first celebrity I would dress would have to be Scarlett Johansson. I think she is a very talented actress and has a very elegant natural look about her and I think that my style of design would really compliment her at a red carpet event. My second celebrity would be Rianna. I love her quirky style and I think that I could design a really extravagant and crazy collection to suit her. My third celebrity would be Christina Aguilera. I love her style and the way she reinvents herself and her music. My collection is very cutting edge and unuique to each individual wearer and I feel my style of design would really compliment her edgy image. I love the fact that she never conforms to societys rules and has her own take on her style and image.

8)What's one thing you cant leave home without?

My makeup!!!! I am very particular about my image and never leave the house without my face on!!!

9)What kind of music would get you dancing on the dance floor?

A bit of old school Garage, Drum and Bass and anything cheesy from the 80's.

10)What do you think of a model with curves on the catwalk/bill boards?

I think its great to be able to work with a variety of different sized models. Every model and woman is unique. I feel that all women should be able to accept their size and curves and not be made to feel as thou they should be a size zero to fit into this perfect world of thinness that the media portray that we should all look like.

11)What are your 4 FASHION TIPS to all women?

My four fashion tips to women would be to wear a garment that you feel truly powerful and special in. Confidence can bring out the beauty in any garment and style.

Always dress to impress yourself and wear what makes you happy not what other people expect you to wear.

It is not about how much a garment costs that can make you look good, its definatly about how you style an outfit. Even the chepest outfit can be made to look expensive with the correct styling and accessories.

I never tend to follow trends. I create my own style and love to mix and match brands. Always be true to yourself and the style that you feel expresses your inner self. I think that if you style yourself from the inside out you can never go wrong.

12)Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

In five years time I want a chain of boutiques and I want to be showing at London Fashion Week. Aim high and always follow your dreams as nothing is unreachable if you truly have the desire to succeed and follow your goals in life.

13)What do you look for in a model who wants to walk the runway for your collection?

I like a model to be traditionaly tall and to be curvy with a striking compsoure and unique look about them. Confidence is a must, beauty is radient from within so if you feel beautiful on the inside your confidence will shine through on to the catwalk highlighting the best aspects of any collection.

14)What are 4 things coming from a woman that makes a man a real man?

Honesty, Loyalty, Compassion and support of each others dreams.

15)What message do you have for anyone who is thinking on becoming a designer?

Go for it!! Its a tough industry and a lot of hard of hard work for very little pay at times. But if you are truly passionate and dedicated to this industry then you will overcome these hurdles and learn as much as you can along the way. I returned to study Fashion Design as a mature student. I completed five years of studying and I do not regret any part of it. I have always been a very creative person and interested fashion since my first Textiles class at school. But ultimatly I never followed this dream as I always thought that the industry was to demanding to succeed in. Since leaving uni in 2010 I have had a great repsponce to my collection and met some amazing people along the way. If you have a dream then follow it don't look back in years to come and have regrets about not following your goals and ambitions.

St.Maarten leading Dancer Rudy speaks to Fashion Police News

1)Tell us briefly who you are and what you do for those that are not familiar with you?

I am Rudolph Davis born on Anguilla October 10th 1979, raised in St. Maarten few weeks after I was born. For those who are not familiar with me I try to encourage them into the world of Arts in Dance education.

2)There are so many dancers on the island of St.Maarten what makes you stand out from the rest?

What makes me stand out is what I do differently to them, I teach African dance/afro Caribbean dance as the only dance instructor person on the Island that makes me stand out.

3)What 3 words best describe you as a person?

I’m Very Friendly
I’m Very Kind
And I’m Very Charming

4)Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?

In the next five years I see myself having my own Dance School on the Island, introducing the young generation to the dance form and dance education.

5)If you had the chance to dance in one music video who would it be for and why?

It would be for Janet Jackson.
From a young teenager growing up, I’ve always been fascinated by the way she moves, her attitude towards dance gives me so much inspirational. Her facial expressions, her moves the way she moves is unwatchable.

6)Is it easy being a guy living on st maarten who choose to be a dancer?

In the beginning it was hard, when I was about 18 years old my mother didn’t like the idea I was dancing, but I never give up on it and still would sneak out and go and as time pass it became something she liked and people really looked up to me as a great dancer although there were those who think negative of it. It was a hard choice but I’m very much happy that I am still a dancer/dance instructor.

7)What do you do when your free from working?

When I am free from work, I love going to the movies
I love going to the beach
Love being home surfing the net, especially youtube watching dance videos etc.
Hiking is one of my favorite thing
Love being at home alone at times watching dvd’s in bed in peace (lol)
Spending time with my family

8)Whats one thing you just cant leave home without?

I cannot leave without my Blackberry

9)Whats your 4 fashion tips you would like to share with our many readers?

1. Fit is King – The most dramatic improvement you can make in your style is to make sure everything fits impeccably. Most guys wear clothes that are too large. Make sure everything you wear is almost hugging the shape of your body – without being tight. Bad fit is an epidemic, cure yourself.
2. Keep it simple – You want a wardrobe that looks great on you, but don’t overdo it. Don’t wear more than three pieces of jewelry or more than three colors. Don’t dress like a rock star unless you’re in a band. If you want to be flashy, a simpler but stylish look would be sporting a black striped dress shirt with a white blazer, a dark pair of jeans, a dressy belt, and your sharpest dress shoes. You could also add a flashy watch or a simple accessory like an interesting necklace, but nothing more.
3. Change the way you see casual – casual doesn’t have to be boring. Have fun with collared shirts, or take some inspiration from those who approach casual a bit differently.
4. Pay attention to your supporting pieces - Some sweaters are lean and others are big and chunky. The first rule of thumb is that your top and bottom halves need to match. If you’re wearing a big, chunky, rugged fisherman knit sweater, your bottom needs to be rugged, too. Don’t wear a fisherman’s sweater with a beautiful silk-and-wool suit pant. Instead, wear it with something as casual as cargos or jeans, or dress it up with a Harris tweed blazer.

10)What kind of music really gets you in the mood?

Music that gets me into a deep mood is, classical music, soca, African rhythms, R&B etc.

11)which other dancers on the island you admire and why?

From a young boy I’ve been going to visit The Motiance dance School with my loving cousin Christian Lloyd. Going there every day and watching many beautiful dancers made me extremely happy. But there was just one of them that my eyes would get hooked on. Nicole Deweever. She became my favorite dancer and at that time I was only 10 years old and we became very clost friends. She talked to me about dancing, she would show me some basics steps and then I would show her what she taught me. And as time passed by we never lost connections with each other up to this day, and now she’s very famous in the world of Dance.

12)What advice do you have for anyone wishing to become a dancer?

My advice for anyone who wants to become a dancer, never listen to people who talk negative, follow your mind, heart and soul. Prove them wrong; show them how far and what you can become as a dancer. Dancing is a way of life.
